Secondus Urges Tinubu To Investigate Wike Over Allegations Of Threats To Lives

Former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Uche Secondus, has called on President Bola Tinubu to initiate a thorough investigation into allegations of threats to life made against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Secondus highlighted the urgency of the investigation following multiple allegations against the minister, emphasizing the need to halt political bloodshed in Rivers State.

He urged relevant security agencies to uphold the sanctity of life and ensure a peaceful political environment.

In a statement released by his media adviser, Ike Abonyi, Secondus stressed that any actions leading to the intimidation or coercion of individuals with opposing views must be condemned in a democratic society.

Secondus referenced recent allegations made by Dan Nwanyanwu, the National Chairman of the Zenith Labour Party, as well as past threats reported by Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives, and Dr Abiye Sekibo, a former Minister of Transport.

He called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation to prevent potential harm.

“A good politician and a democrat should rely on his popularity, not on the use of coercion to achieve his aim,” Secondus stated.

He expressed concern that if Wike resorts to threats against those with differing opinions, it indicates a loss of public legitimacy.

Secondus also criticized Wike’s recent threats against Senator Ireti Kingibe, who had expressed differing views on Wike’s administration of the FCT.

He urged President Tinubu to rein in the Minister to prevent further embarrassment to his administration.
