Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan Denies Receiving ₦500 Million from Senate President Akpabio

Suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has firmly denied allegations that she received ₦500 million from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, dismissing the claim as a baseless attempt to tarnish her reputation.

In a statement released on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, the Kogi Central lawmaker stressed that no such transaction ever occurred, describing the report as a deliberate falsehood intended to mislead the public.

“Let me be clear: I have never received ₦500 million or any amount from Senator Akpabio. At no time did I make any statement suggesting such. This is nothing but a deliberate falsehood aimed at causing unnecessary controversy,” Akpoti-Uduaghan stated.

She further challenged those behind the allegation to provide credible evidence to substantiate their claims, emphasizing her commitment to integrity and transparency in public service.

The senator condemned the spread of misinformation for political gain, warning that such actions undermine democratic principles. She urged Nigerians to be cautious and verify information before sharing or believing it.

“It is unfortunate that certain individuals are willing to fabricate such blatant lies. I urge Nigerians to verify information before believing or sharing it,” she added.

Akpoti-Uduaghan also called on security agencies to investigate the source of the misinformation and take appropriate action against those responsible. She reaffirmed her dedication to serving her constituents, vowing not to be distracted by unfounded accusations.

Meanwhile, the embattled senator continues to face political challenges, including an ongoing recall process initiated by some constituents. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) recently confirmed receiving a petition seeking her removal from the Senate. Additionally, a Federal High Court in Abuja has lifted an earlier injunction preventing the Senate from proceeding with disciplinary actions against her.
