Sowore Reacts After Bayo Onanuga Said That Obi’s Supporters Are The Ones Planning Mayhem In Nigeria

The Special Adviser to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, has alleged that the supporters of the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Peter Obi, are the people planning protests in Nigeria. One of those who reacted to the allegation was the African Action Congress (AAC) presidential candidate in the 2023 election, Omoyele Sowore.

Following the economic hardship and rising cost of living in the country, some Nigerians, under various groups, have called for protests to draw the attention of the government to the suffering of the masses.

In a statement he shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday, Bayo Onanuga said that he has found out that Obi’s supporters are the people behind the planned protests. He added that Peter Obi should be held responsible for whatever becomes of the protests.

He said, “Peter Obi’s supporters are the people planning mayhem in Nigeria: Obi should be held responsible for anarchy.

“Don’t be fooled: the malcontents planning to stage nationwide protests are supporters of Peter Obi, the failed presidential candidate of the Labour Party. And he should be held responsible for whatever crisis emanates from the action.”

Onanuga said that the people planning the protests are not democrats but anarchists, and that if they are not satisfied with the present government, then they should wait until 2027 to vote the government out and vote in whoever they want.

He said that he has been following the online activities of some of the people behind the planned protests, and discovered that they are Peter Obi’s supporters.

Below are screenshots of parts of the statement from Onanuga:

While reacting to the statement, Sowore said that nothing can stop an idea whose time has come, and that it doesn’t matter how Onanuga has chosen to call it. He said that the truth is that the masses are tired of the incompetence of the people in government.

He said, “The drivel from a sinking regime. There is nothing that could stop an idea whose time has come. It doesn’t matter how you frame your fears and shenanigans, and the truth is that Nigerians are tired of the deceit, corruption, wickedness and incompetence of the ruling class and have opted to act from all locations at once.”
