Speaking on the verdict, the Speaker Amaewhule said that the judgment is a victory for democracy and the rule of law. Amaewhule then expressed gratitude to the Supreme Court justices, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory Nyesom Wike, the Rivers state political leaders, colleagues in the assembly and all who contributed to the restoration of democratic principles and ethos in the oil rich state.
