They Have Stopped Shouting, Allahu Akbar, And That Is What We Are Fearing – Sheikh Gumi

Sheikh Gumi, a popular Kaduna-based Islamic preacher, spoke with The Punch correspondent on the country’s banditry and terrorism.

Gumi was told during the interview that the rate at which bandits and terrorists kill and kidnap Nigerians is increasing, particularly in the country’s north, despite the federal government spending billions of Naira to tackle insecurity. Gumi stated that no matter how expensive the pharmaceuticals used to treat patients are, if they are not the appropriate ones, the patients will not improve.

When asked if the bandits were ready to sheath their swords, he said that the situation had become more problematic.

He stated, “At the moment, they have ceased yelling “Allahu Akbar,” which is what we are concerned about. Now they’re doing the same atrocities of murder, rape, and slaughter.”

Furthermore, “When we went there, they were not yelling “Allahu Akbar.” They are now resentful and believe the struggle is motivated by vengeance. They must have been recruited by religious extremists. “This is what we feared.”
