Dele Momodu, a seasoned journalist and prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has issued a caution to President Bola Tinubu regarding the management of Nigeria’s resources amidst aspirations for a second term.
Momodu, who is also the Publisher of Ovation magazine, conveyed his advice through a post on social media on Thursday.
In his statement, Momodu urged the President to focus on investing in vocational skills for Nigerian youths, promoting agriculture, and enhancing educational institutions rather than distributing cash to politicians during elections.
Momodu stated, “I believe you’re frittering away our resources because you desperately crave a second term. But the best assurance of a second term is PERFORMANCE.
Nigerians are not expecting you to turn water into wine but they don’t want you to turn their wines into water.”
He further suggested robust investments in vocational training to harness the talents of Nigerian youth, substantial support for local agriculture to boost food security, and significant upgrades to educational infrastructure to improve learning outcomes nationwide.
Regarding electoral practices, Momodu criticized the practice of distributing cash to politicians, labelling it as detrimental and lacking foresight.
He described it as a manifestation of cluelessness rather than a constructive approach to governance.
He also asked the President to call the FCT minister, Nyesom Wike, to order, saying that his recent activities of haggling with his successor and Rivers state governor, Sim Fubara, can cause ”chaos”.
