1. PDP govs, APC Clash, Forum Carpets FG Over Killings

The PDP Governors’ Forum accused the APC-led Federal Government of turning Nigeria into a killing field. The APC, in its reaction, said the opposition party’s allegations were tissues of lies. They also accused them of underhand tactics to arm twist.

The meeting of the PDP governors called on the Federal Government to create employment for the youth rather than paying lip service on the ease of doing business. The meeting also called for a free, fair and credible elections in the country before 2023 general elections. They urged Nigerians to take advantage of the ongoing registration of voters by INEC to register.

2. Four killed, many injured as herdsmen attack community

At least four persons have reportedly been hacked to death by suspected herdsmen in two villages in the Nimbo community, Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. The incident reportedly took place around 2 am on Monday when people were still asleep. Several persons were said to be severely injured in the attack with about ten persons reported missing.

3. Buhari has turned Presidential Villa into APC headquarters – PDP governors

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, accused President Muhammadu Buhari of turning the Presidential Villa into the headquarters of the All Progressives Congress, APC.

The governors made the remark during their meeting in Bauchi State, where they deliberated on the state of the nation. They accused APC of using “underhand tactics to arm twist” some of its governors into defecting.

4. Court restrains FG from borrowing unclaimed dividends

A federal high court has issued an interim order restraining the federal government from borrowing unclaimed dividends of shareholders in the Nigerian capital market. This follows a case filed by shareholders under the aegis of Palm Wealth Shareholders Association (PWSA) in February 2021.

5. Sunday Igboho: Armed Policemen Chase Yoruba Nation Supporters Out Of Court

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Igboboho, was dispersed from the premises of the Cour De’appal De Cotonou in the Benin Republic on Monday.

The court is investigating allegations brought against him by the Federal Government of Nigeria which claimed that he is a gun runner. It is also expected to rule on the extradition or otherwise of Igboho.

6. Herdsmen kill four, 10 missing after Enugu community resisted them from grazing on their farms

Suspected Fulani herdsmen allegedly killed four people and injured many others. The attack took place in the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State.

A community leader, Stephen Obiakor, disclosed that 10 people were still missing after the attack. He said trouble started when some herders came with their cattle to graze in the farm settlement.

7. Man accused of trying to kill Mali’s interim President dies in custody

The Malian government has announced the death of the man who was accused of trying to kill interim President, Assimi Goita. The suspect’s death is not an obstacle to continuing the investigation, the government said in a statement on Sunday July 25;.

9. Police arrest 4 suspects for armed robbery, culpable homicide in Yobe

Four suspects have been arrested by the Police in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital. The suspects are Umar Shaibu, Tajjuddeen Taufiq, Isma’il Mohammed and Bulama Modu.

They were arrested during a sting operation carried out by detectives of ‘B’ Divisional Police.

10. Electronic Transmission Of Election Results Compulsory, PDP Govs Tell NASS

Electronic transmission of election results will guarantee free and fair polls in the country. The PDP Governors’ Forum has urged the National Assembly to make electronic transmission compulsory. They also called on Nigerians “to use the opportunity of the PDP e-registration exercise which will kick off soon”
