Nigeria’s senate president, Ahmad Lawan has reacted to the banning of Twitter in Nigeria.

Recall that the Nigeria Federal Government banned the microblogging platform last week. The Federal Government said this was because the platform was used by people to threaten ‘Nigeria’s corporate existence’.

Ahmad Lawan has, for the first time, reacted to the suspension of Twitter in Nigeria.

The senate president said that they are talks going between the FG and Twitter to lift the ban. Ahmad also revealed that he was positive that Nigerians are going to be back on the blue bird app.

“The honourable minister of information, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, informed Nigerians that they are talking with Twitter to resolve this matter. Our belief is that Nigeria needs Twitter just as much as Twitter needs Nigeria”. Lawan said.

“We believe that the matter between Twitter and the federal government of Nigeria will be resolved. But beyond that, I’m an optimist; I believe all of us have learnt our lessons.” He added.

Twitter has also confirmed that they are in talks with the FG to handle the situation.

This means that, anytime from now, Nigerians would be once again allowed access to Twitter.
