Unidentified gunmen invaded the Orji area and surrounding areas in Owerri, the capital of Imo state, on Thursday, June 3, killing three people in different locations. The operation reportedly started at around 5.30 pm and lasted for more than an hour, armed personnel moved through the area and fired from time to time.
The gunmen were said to have started their operation from the Orji axis, headed to the Spibat area, and visited other areas, killing three persons.
The victims were a woman and two men, including a truck driver. These black gangsters were reportedly driving freely in two cars, a bus, and a Hilux van. The spokesperson for the Imo State Police Command, Bala Elkana, confirmed the incident, saying:
“Three persons were killed by the hoodlums who blocked Orji flyover and started shooting sporadically.
“The cause of the shooting is still not clear at the moment. The investigation has, however, commenced.”
