We Didn't Invade CDHR Office - Lagos Police Command

Lagos State Police Command has refuted the allegation that its personnel invaded the office of the Committee for the Defence of Human Rights (CDHR), in Ikeja, Lagos.

Lagos Police Command Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, said this in a statement on Saturday via his X handle.

Naturenex reported that CDHR National President, Comrade Debo Adeniran, and National Publicity Secretary, Comrade Idris Olayinka, in a statement on Friday, said police personnel laid siege in their headquarters.

The statement added the siege was tantamount to a gross violation of the rights to peaceful assembly and freedom of speech.

However, Hundeyin said police personnel were present around the office of CDHR and did not at any point invade the venue. He added that the symposium held in the office by the human rights organization was not interrupted by the police.

“The police were present around the venue but at no point did the police invade the venue or stop anyone from gaining access to the venue. The symposium held without any form of hindrance and under adequate security provided by the police and other security agencies.

“We have seen pictures from the CDHR itself of police officers meters away from the building but are yet to see pictures of any invasion or obstruction.

“There was no invasion! We even provided security for their procession from Adeniyi Jones to Alausa,” the statement read.
