Ibrahim Abdullahi, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, has alleged that Peter Obi, the former Labour Party’s presidential candidate, departed from the PDP at the verge of suspension by the Iyorchia Ayu led NWC.
He highlighted the contrast between the current NWC and the previous one led by Iyorchia Ayu, which was characterized by a flurry of suspensions.
He expressed optimism about the current state of the party under Damagum’s leadership. He noted that the present NWC has ushered in an era of unity and cohesion, despite the inherent challenges in political party management.
He said in an interview with Arise TV, ‘The position of Ambassador Umar Damagum didn’t come through appointment; he came through the operation of the law. And there’s no interloper or fifth columnist that would be planted at this level to create an impression that there’s disharmony or disaffection in the party.
The leadership has been provided by Damagum, and what we are expecting to get from PDP since the vacation of Iyorchia Ayu by the court. And Umar Damagum has stabilized this party, albeit all these differences, and he has been able to provide leadership and inspiration.
You’ve seen that the gale of suspension, which characterized the led NWC by Iyorchia Ayu, has been taken away by the inspirational leadership provided by the present NWC.
We woke up one morning and saw that we lost Peter Obi; he left at the verge of suspension and out of mismanagement of our fortune, and that counted against us in the election seriously, which we lost.
And through the same process, we lost Rabiu Kwankwaso, and we lost several others under that NWC. But since Damagum took over, you do not see the kind of disarray in the PDP that you have seen in the previous NWC.”
