The Igboezue International Association of Nigeria and the Diaspora (IIAND) has issued a stern warning to President Tinubu and the Lagos State government, headed by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, over the rising tensions caused by the “Igbos must go” campaign that some angry elders and youth in the state started, as reported in the Vanguard.
The group warned that if nothing was done, bad things would happen, quoting a proverb that goes something like, “The man who brings home ant-ridden faggots must be ready for the visit of the lizard.”
Defiantly claiming to be just as Nigerian as any other tribe, the group vowed that the Igbo people would not be coerced into leaving their homeland, highlighting their strong sense of Nigerian identity.
This was stated by the group’s Chairman, Chief Ikechukwu Nwafoawa, while speaking to reporters through the Anambra State chapter.
As the group claims;
“We are warning that President Tinubu and Babajide Sanwo Olu led Lagos State government should nip in the board the near war some disgruntled elders and youth in Lagos state who are behind the recent “Igbos must go” campaign wants to cause. “The man who brings home ant ridden faggots must be ready for the visit of the lizard”. “We are also telling them that they should not touch tiger by the tell because it has consequences
We want to tell them that we are Igbo, and we will never run away for any tribe in Nigeria. We are even more Nigerian than any other tribe in Nigeria, whoever that is telling us to go or leave any part of Nigeria, must go or leave first. We are Igbos and we can never out of fear leave the country for anybody in Nigeria.”
