Governor of Rivers State, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has presented before his state house of assembly, the state’s 2021 budget.
Wike presented the state’s 2021 budget tagged “Budget of recovery” which estimates 448.7 Billion Naira, to the
Rivers State House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
Governor Wike said the bill will strengthen the developmental drive of the state government and ensure economic boost in the face of the challenging times as a result of the
COVID-19 pandemic .
He said “We the government believes that our budgetary estimate should be realistically as possible. Accordingly we are proposing a total budget size of 448.7 billion for fiscal year 2021.”
He stated that his administration has always put at the fore, the payment of salaries and pensions while assuring the state’s civil servants, including the 5,000 proposed enlistment, will be paid their salaries promptly in 2021.
“Ministries, Departments and Agencies are also assured of prompt release of overheads to enable them run and deliver services to the people”. Barr. Wike promised.
The 2021 budget is more than a 21 percent increase over the 2020 budget of 300 billion naira.
