BIAFRA: Where’s Nnamdi Kanu? Lawyer Challenges FG
Reports circulated across various social media platforms yesterday, suggesting that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB, had escaped from the custody of the Department of State Services DSS.
According to Legit, Nnamdi Kanu allegedly fled from DSS custody with his case file. The report stated, “Kanu’s escape was executed with meticulous planning and precision, catching the authorities off guard.
Albeit it also claimed that details surrounding the escape remained sketchy, with speculation ranging from insider assistance to external support.”
However, Legit. ng further emphasized that if Kanu had indeed escaped, it would have been widely reported by credible media outlets, which has not been the case.
In response to these reports, Barrister Alloy Ejimakor, lead counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, refuted the claims.
In an exclusive interview with DAILY POST on Friday, Ejimakor asserted, “It’s not true. I will be visiting him today at 2:00 PM. Kanu is a responsible and courageous freedom fighter committed to combating injustice within the system, not outside of it. He is too prominent to consider escaping.”
Attempts by DAILY POST to contact DSS spokesman Peter Afunanya were unsuccessful, as he did not answer calls or respond to text messages.
Despite the denial from Ejimakor, reports however persisted that the IPOB leader had escaped from DSS custody on Thursday, taking his case file with him.
Meanwhile, Ejimakor also accused the Nigerian government of detaining Kanu based on “guilt by association” and hinted at the increased insecurity in the Southeast in correlation with Kanu’s detention.
He challenged the government to release Kanu, asserting that doing so would lead to an immediate cessation of insecurity in the region.
Several loyalists and followers of the embattled Leader of IPOB have raised eyebrows against the development, affirming no tolerance if anything ugly happens to Kanu.
