BREAKING: VDM finally released from EFCC

Popular social media figure and activist, Martins Otse, better known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has been released from the custody of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

VDM had been held by the anti-graft agency since his arrest in Abuja on Friday, a development that sparked widespread reactions and calls for his release, especially from Nigerian youths demanding it be immediate and unconditional.

The EFCC, in a statement on Tuesday, explained that his detention was based on a series of petitions lodged against him. The agency added that “several invitations were communicated to him but he failed to honour them,” which led to his eventual arrest.

Giving an update on the situation, activist and politician Omoyele Sowore confirmed VDM’s release via his official Facebook page on Wednesday evening, declaring: “VDM Released”!
