Delta State Police Detain Officers Involved In Shooting Vigilante Group
The Delta State Police Command has taken action following the shooting of the commander and two members of the Idjerhe Kingdom’s vigilante group.
Two policemen have been arrested and detained for their alleged involvement in the incident, which occurred on January 30, 2024, in Jesse town.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Abaniwonda Olufemi, has condemned the shooting and assured the public that a thorough investigation will be conducted.
In a statement released by the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe, CP Olufemi emphasized that the command does not condone the violation of citizens’ rights or the use of firearms without proper authorization.
He has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a full-scale investigation, and the detained officers will face internal disciplinary action and potential prosecution.
