The conversation surrounding the controversy involving online critic Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has taken a new turn, as Nigerians on social media continue to debate his situation and that of his mother.
The drama began after VDM accompanied his mother to Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) to address ongoing deductions from her account — an incident that eventually led to his arrest by EFCC officials. Recently, a video surfaced online featuring Nigerian actor Samuel Jemilato alongside another content creator, both expressing harsh views about the situation. In the trending clip, one of them insisted that there was no way such deductions could have happened without VDM’s mother taking a loan or withholding important information. He suggested that she should be held accountable and interrogated.
Adding his voice, Jemilato criticized the online activist’s personal life, claiming that VDM’s parents were his real problem for failing to correct him. He said the EFCC “should keep the criticisms for as long as they please in their custody” while noting that VDM’s family had not told him the truth about his character.
