Ekweremadu: My Legs Are Swollen And That Started The Day I Heard Of David’s Disappearance – David Ukpo’s Dad

The father of David Ukpo has lamented that his health started to deteriorate when he heard of his son’s disappearance. He said that his legs are now swollen and his heart beats very fast. He said because of that, he has not been able to go to farm again.

According to the report by Vanguard on Tuesday, Nwamini Ukpo said that he has not seen his son since he was taken to the UK, and that all he wants is to see his son again.

It should be recalled that the 21-year-old David Ukpo was taken to the United Kingdom by the former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, and his wife, Beatrice for a kidney transplant. Ike Ekweremadu and his wife were looking for a kidney for their sick daughter, Sonia.

Ike Ekweremadu and his wife were arrested and sentenced at the Central Criminal Court, Old Bailey, United Kingdom, for organ trafficking.

Ike Ekweremadu was slammed with a jail term of nine years and eight months, while his wife Beatrice was sentenced to four years and six months in jail.

Speaking with newsmen at his family compound in Ndioffia Ishieke, Ebonyi State, Ukpo’s father said that when the issue of his son became a global story, the Ekweremadu family did not come to visit them immediately. He said that they came when the UK government took up the matter.

He said, “As you can see, my legs are swollen and that started the day I heard of David’s disappearance. My heart beats fast, and as such, I have stopped farm work.”
