Ekweremadu Reveals Who Is Responsible For His Travails In London

Ike Ekweremadu, a former deputy senate president, accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday before the Federal High Court in Abuja of being to blame for his troubles at the London court where he is being held in prison.

The Senator, who has been detained in London in connection with an alleged scandal involving organ harvesting, testified before the Federal High Court that the anti-graft agency sent a letter to the London Court, which caused the foreign court to deny the senator’s application for bail.

The accusations made by Ekweremadu were included in a court application he made in Nigeria asking for a ruling to overturn an interim decision that had been made in favor of the Federal Government forfeiting 40 of his properties both inside and outside of Nigeria.

Ekweremadu asserted in the case submitted by his attorney, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo SAN, that the EFCC withheld information and facts regarding the assets, which led to the Federal Government receiving the forfeiture order in error.

The imprisoned Senator said that the EFCC deceitfully secured the forfeiture order for the government by hiding the fact that the inquiry into the 40 properties began in 2008.

He claimed, among other things, that the EFCC knew for sure that he was being held in London when the application for forfeiture of the properties was made and debated.
