Veteran actor and Chieftain of the Labour Party, Barrister Kenneth Okonkwo has said that the Southeast region of the country was for the first time recognised and respected because they brought out their best in the last election.
In an exclusive interview with Rudolf Okonkwo on 90MinutesAfrica, Okonkwo urged the people of the region to find a way to shut down their worst and bring out there best. He also disclosed that there is nothing like tribalism, ethnicity or religion issue as an hindrance from rising to the top. Using the story of Joseph, he said when you bring a man with an excellent spirit, even if he is a slave he will rise to the top because he has something in him that no one has.
His words: “For the first time in Nigeria, the southeast was recognised and respected because they brought out their best. They must find a way to shut down the worst and bring out the best. You know what, forget this issue, there is nothing like tribalism, ethnicity, religious issue in Nigeria. When you bring a man that has the spirit of excellence, even if he is a slave, he will be needed in the palace because there will be something he has that no other person has. Joseph was a slave and a prisoner, but pharaoh had to bring him out of the jail to make him prime minister, because he said you alone have the secret to what will save my country.”
