Glo Adjusts Data Plans, Introduces 200% Bonus on MiFi Purchases

Telecommunications firm, Globacom, has unveiled a revised pricing structure for its data services, in line with recent regulatory changes approved by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC).

The new pricing, as reflected on Glo’s official website, shows significant adjustments across daily, weekly, and monthly data plans. While some bundles have been reduced in value, others have been replaced entirely.

In January, the NCC gave the green light for telecom operators to review their tariffs. Although operators initially sought over 100% increases, the commission approved a more moderate 50% hike. According to Reuben Muoka, NCC’s spokesperson, the increase was necessary to enable service providers to maintain and improve infrastructure.

Key Changes in Glo Data Plans

Daily Plans: Some entry-level bundles, such as the N100 and N200 options, now offer less data than before.

Weekly Plans: The former 1.8GB for N500 valid for 14 days has been replaced with a 1.5GB plan valid for only 7 days. However, new weekly options with higher price points have also been introduced.

Monthly Plans: Most monthly data bundles now provide approximately 25% to 35% less data for the same prices.

Mega Plans: Several high-capacity plans have been removed, while those remaining offer significantly lower data volumes than before.

New Glo MiFi Bonus Offer

As part of its efforts to enhance customer experience, Glo is also offering a 200% data bonus on all new MiFi devices purchased at any Gloworld outlet nationwide. The offer applies to customers who activate their devices using a new Glo SIM.

According to the company’s announcement from its Lagos office, the MiFi devices are priced at N14,999 and come with significant value-added data incentives for first-time users.

This initiative is part of Glo’s broader strategy to attract more data users while adapting to the current market realities shaped by regulatory updates and operational costs.
