Popular Nigerian content creator and online personality, Habeeb Hamzat, better known as Peller, has opened up about his strained relationship with his family, revealing how the weight of responsibilities has driven him apart from them.
During a recent conversation with fellow TikToker, Sandra Benede, the 19-year-old poured out his heart, explaining how being the breadwinner of his family at such a young age has taken an emotional toll on him.
Peller admitted that these days, he barely feels connected to his family and would rather just support them from a distance than be around them physically.
In his words, “I’m not feeling okay. The other day, I slept off in my car till the next morning. I don’t like what I am facing in this young age. I’m not even up to 20 years. It is not fair.”
He went on to explain how his mindset has outgrown his current family environment, and how the pressure of acting like the head of the household has left him emotionally drained.
“I don’t like seeing my family anymore. I just send them things to make sure they are okay. I don’t like to see them again because my mentality is higher than living with my parents. My mentality now is higher than theirs. It feels like I’m their parent even though I have an elder brother,” he said.
Sharing more about how this lifestyle has affected him, the young streamer revealed, “I struggle like a parent. I don’t rest. Sometimes, I feel like running away to hide somewhere in America and go offline. I have been meaning to do it but I don’t want them to be worried.”
Perhaps the most touching part of his confession was when he admitted that he no longer misses any of his family members like he used to, except for one person who isn’t even part of his family.
“Before I used to miss my mum whenever I travelled as a child. But right now, I don’t miss any of my family members anymore. The only person I will mis is Jarvis. I communicate with my family through phone but I don’t miss them,” he revealed.
