Popular online personality and social commentator, Vincent Otse, better known by his nickname VeryDarkMan (VDM), has publicly voiced his outrage following new claims leveled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
In a video recently shared on his YouTube channel, Otse opened up about his latest encounter with the anti-graft agency. According to him, after spending more than four hours at the EFCC office, he was confronted with an unexpected allegation from a woman who accused him of stealing her intellectual property.
Narrating his side of the story, VDM explained that the tech idea in question was something he personally developed while in Kuje Prison. The project, he noted, was designed to help combat fraudulent practices carried out by dubious online vendors.
“I’ve never been this angry in my life. Now, this woman is saying my tech project is hers,” he lamented in the video.
Clearly fed up with the mounting controversies surrounding him, Otse confessed that the situation had taken a heavy emotional toll. “At this point, I feel like I should just go back to prison,” he added.
He further urged the EFCC and relevant authorities to take intellectual property rights more seriously in Nigeria, stressing the need for tighter legal protection to prevent such disputes. In spite of the fresh challenge, Otse reaffirmed his commitment to launching his anti-scam tech initiative and setting up a dedicated office to assist online fraud victims.
Recalling the heated exchange at the EFCC office, VDM stated: “When I got to the EFCC, they hit me with this ridiculous accusation—some woman claiming I stole her business idea. I was so furious, I won’t lie, I cursed her out.”
