The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has officially introduced six innovative digital tools aimed at boosting the efficiency and credibility of elections in Nigeria.

These technological solutions were unveiled during a one-day retreat held in Lagos State on Wednesday, April 30, where INEC outlined plans to modernise the nation’s electoral process.

According to the commission, the newly developed applications are expected to significantly transform how elections are managed and conducted across the country.

During the event, the INEC chairman, Mahmood Yakubu, underscored the vital role technology plays in election administration and result management in Nigeria. He stated, “These mobile applications represent our commitment to leveraging technology for transparent and efficient elections. They will transform everything from voter registration to results collation.”

The tools presented by INEC at the retreat include:

  1. CROMS – Collation and Returning Officers Management System
  2. ERMS – Election Results Management System
  3. VETS – Virtual Election Training System
  4. PFRAS – Political Party Financial Reporting System
  5. EMSC Dashboard – Election Monitoring and Support Center
  6. EFLOC – Electoral Facility Locator
