Senator representing Bauchi North, Bauchi State, Adamu Bulkachuwa, has defected from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Naturenex reports that Bulkachuwa, also the Chairman Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs, made his defection official on Wednesday.

The 82-year-old pledged to “overwhelmingly support” Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the PDP for the 2023 election.

Meanwhile, four of the aggrieved G-5 governors of the PDP have met with Governor Bala Mohammed in Bauchi, the state capital.

The governors comprise Governors Nyesom Wike (Rivers); Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu); Samuel Ortom (Benue); and Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia).

The G-5 has been in dispute with the leadership of the party, demanding the resignation of the National Chairman of the party, Senator Iyorchia Ayu, as a precondition to support Atiku in the 2023 presidential election.
