Amid the ongoing public outcry over the harsh criticism levelled against Peter Gregory Obi’s presidential campaign by Charles Chukwuma Soludo, a veteran Nollywood actor and chieftain of the Labour Party (LP), Kenneth Okonkwo has spoken out about the subject.
The spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, Okonkwo, said in an interview on Africa Independent Television (AIT) a few hours ago that he was delighted by Soludo’s negative outburst against Obi because it supports the claim that, contrary to popular belief, the Labour Party’s front-runner is not an Igbo candidate.
He stated: “Will Soludo not support Peter Obi if he were to run as an Igbo candidate? I find it exciting that speakers like Soludo are speaking because they are confirming that Peter Obi is a Nigerian candidate.
Let me start by saying that Igbos are Republicans and that we have the freedom to vote for whomever we want in Igboland. Did anyone criticise Soludo for not supporting Peter Obi in the past? When he said that Obi’s investments are worthless, people merely attacked him for lying.”
