Madhu Shehu Reacts To Gov Ortom’s Comments That He Will Not Support A Fulani Man To Be President

A political rights activist, Mahdi Shehu has accused Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom of profiling Fulanis over his comments that he will not support a Fulani man to become president.

Ortom who was angered by the activities of armed Fulani herdsmen on the insecurity challenges in the state also said that anybody supporting the presidential candidate of his party, the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar is an enemy of the state.

Reacting on News Central TV, “when there are security challenges in a state or a nation, it is not about lumping the blame on an ethnic group. He is profiling the entire Fulani of being responsible for the breakdown of law and order in Benue.

In a state where the Governor cannot pay salaries, gratuities, pension as at when due, its healthcare is in shambles, education is in shambles and all these things are directly or indirectly tangentially related to security. He cannot transfer his degree of failure and use it to profile ethnic groups.”

“There are six other groups outside the Tivs that are in Benue State and these six other groups, Ortom cannot claim to be speaking for them.

For instance, he cannot claim to be speaking for the idomas and the igalas but he may partially claim to be speaking for the Tivs.”
