Nnamdi Kanu: Why Nigerians Are Leaving The Country – Omoyele Sowore

In a recent interview with Arise News, human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has lambasted Nigeria’s unity, stating that many citizens have mentally checked out of the country. Sowore, who is also the founder of the African Action Congress, attributed this sentiment to the country’s long history of marginalization, particularly against the Igbo people.

Sowore specifically highlighted the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who is currently facing trial for his attempts to secede from Nigeria. He argued that Kanu’s Igbo heritage has made him a target of the country’s inherent biases.

The activist pointed out that many Nigerians are leaving the country in droves, citing a lack of faith in the system. “Not many Nigerians haven’t mentally seceded from Nigeria,” Sowore declared. He emphasized that this mass exodus is a clear indication of the country’s failure to address its internal issues.

In his words;

“He(Nnamdi Kanu) is Igbo makes it worse because Nigeria’s DNA hates the Igbo for attempting in the 60s towards the end of the 70s to leave a country they said it’s no longer favourable to their existence. I keep saying it and I will repeat it here again. Is there any Nigerian out there who has not mentally seceded from Nigeria? not many. That’s why People are leaving the Country”
