Nnamdi Kanu’s Full-Scale Terrorism Trial Begins Today In Abuja
Barring any unforeseen circumstances, the full-scale trial of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), on terrorism charges is set to commence at the Federal High Court in Abuja today.
The federal government has brought these terrorism charges against Kanu, with the prosecution’s legal team expected to be led by the renowned legal expert, Solomon Adegboyega Awomolo, SAN.
Kanu’s defense will be managed by Aloy Ejimakor, alongside other prominent lawyers.
Justice Binta Fatimat Nyako is scheduled to preside over the trial, which will begin at 12 noon.
As of the time of this report, operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have secured the court premises and surrounding roads to ensure law and order. Lawyers and litigants entering the court premises are being thoroughly frisked to prevent any dangerous materials from being brought inside.
DAILY POST observed that individuals without essential business at the court are being politely turned away to prevent congestion.
Kanu is expected to be brought to the courtroom by noon under heavy security escort.
