Former Anambra State Governor and Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi met with Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State in a closed-door meeting.
The meeting was disclosed by the Oyo State Government on social media, but the purpose of the meeting is yet to be revealed, it may not be unconnected to political strategies for the 2027 election.
There are currently talks for a merger between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which Makinde is a member of, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, and the Labour Party. This merger is expected to lead to a larger party, which could potentially impact the political landscape in the region
The meeting between Obi and Makinde may be a part of these discussions, as both parties seek to strengthen their positions ahead of the 2027 election.
