Peter Obi Reacts Over Senseless Killing Of Harmless Villagers
Former Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State has expressed deep concern over the recent wave of violence in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu State. Taking to his verified Twitter account, Obi lamented the senseless killings of innocent villagers over the weekend, emphasizing the ongoing reign of terror perpetrated by unknown assailants in the region.
“I just read reports of yet another senseless killing of harmless and defenseless villagers in Uzo Uwani Local Government Area of Enugu state over the weekend,” Obi wrote. “I find the report very disturbing especially recalling that these terror-mongers have continued to unleash terror on the people of Uzo-uwani over the years.”
Uzo Uwani holds a significant place in Obi’s heart, as he has maintained a close relationship with the area and remained supportive of its development efforts. He expressed anguish over the plight of residents who now live in constant fear of violence and death due to the recurrent attacks.
Obi highlighted a previous incident in 2015 when Mater Amabilis Secondary School in Adani, Uzo Uwani, suffered a devastating fire, leaving students without proper accommodation. Promptly responding to the crisis, Obi intervened, spearheading the reconstruction of the hostel, which was handed over to the school management by March 2016.
Tragically, just a month after the hostel’s reconstruction, the Nimbo Community in the same Uzo Uwani area fell victim to a brutal attack, drawing national attention to the escalating security challenges in the region.
