In a recent interview with Channels TV, former Minister of Aviation, Osita Chidoka, challenged the notion that the North inherently benefits from the quota system.
Instead, he argued that the real beneficiaries of the quota system are individuals who have strategically placed their children in key institutions such as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), and State Security Service (SSS).
Chidoka pointed out that examining the names within these organizations reveals a correlation with individuals in public office. He emphasized the shared challenges faced by the disenfranchised youth in both the North and young Igbo individuals seeking opportunities.
He encouraged mutual understanding and open communication among young people, emphasizing the importance of collaboration and identifying those who can lead efforts towards realizing a new and equitable Nigeria.
Chidoka stated, “We don’t need to talk down on each other. We don’t need to accuse the people of the North of not understanding that they are benefitting from the quota system. The North is not benefitting, the people benefitting from the quota system are those who have put their children in CBN, NDIC, and SSS.
He further explained, “Go there and look at the names of the people in these organizations, it correlates with the names of the people in Public office. The young disenfranchised Nigeria in the North is in the same situation as the young Igbo boy who is applying and saying I’m disadvantaged.
