[VIDEO]: Peter Obi Reacts As National Bureau Of Statistics Releases Data Of 133 Million Nigerians In Poverty

According to a report carried out by the National Bureau of Statistics, it was revealed that out of 216 million people living in Nigeria, 133 million, representing 63% of the population, are poor. According to the 2022 Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), 86 million Nigerians, which is 65% of the population, live in the North, while nearly 47 million Nigerians, which represents 37%, live in the Southern region.

Reacting to the statistics that were released by the National Bureau, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, who paid a visit to Benue state to address the crowd that gathered at the NKST Universal Reform Church, said in his words 

“He came to address them on issues Nigeria is facing so one can talk about Nigeria and the election coming. Just yesterday, they released Nigeria is 216 Million in population, but they also said 133 million is in poverty and that is what should concern us, what he’s concerned about and how they would start pulling people out of poverty, as it’s critical.
