Wike To Fubara: Do These Two Things For Peace To Return To Rivers

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has outlined two key actions Governor Siminalayi Fubara must take for peace to be restored in Rivers State.

Speaking during a live media chat in Abuja, Wike emphasized that Fubara must re-present the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, and also resubmit the names of his commissioners for approval.

He argued that peace can only be achieved when due process is followed, stating:

“What is peace? Peace comes when the right thing is done. If the right things are not done, how can you expect peace?

“Go and re-present the budget, go and submit the list of commissioners. You cannot operate outside the law.”

Wike also spoke about how he played a key role in selecting Fubara as governor, despite opposition from some Ijaw politicians. He pointed out that the Ijaw people are a minority in Rivers State and the Niger Delta, adding that apart from Bayelsa State, it would be difficult for an Ijaw politician to become governor in any other state in the region.
