A 32-year-old woman, Loveth Alo Helen, has been arraigned before an Enugu Magistrate Court for allegedly giving false testimony about acquiring a property during a testimony session at Zion Prayer Movement.
Helen was seen in a viral video claiming that God had blessed her with a property purchase, with footage of the building displayed in the church. In another viral clip, she reportedly stated that she bought the house for ₦200 million.
On Tuesday, she appeared before the Magistrate Court in Enugu North, presided over by S.O. Chukwuani, facing a four-count charge, including obtaining by false pretenses with intent to defraud, defamation of character, and attempting to sell the property fraudulently.
The prosecution alleged that she falsely claimed ownership of a five-bedroom duplex at Plot 16, WTC Estate, Enugu, which legally belongs to Architect Emmanuel Asogwa.
Helen pleaded not guilty to the charges. The court granted her bail set at ₦1 million, requiring a surety with three years’ tax clearance. The case, referenced as MEN/112C/25, has been adjourned to April 9, 2025, for further proceedings.
Speaking to journalists after her arraignment, Helen maintained that her testimony was not prearranged, nor did she receive any financial benefit from anyone. She insisted that she acted in faith, believing she would eventually acquire the property.
“I testified believing that I would get it. No one arranged anything with me, and I didn’t receive anything from anyone,” she stated.
Helen also mentioned that she had inspected the property before making her testimony, as part of an ongoing process to acquire it.
