2023 Presidency: How We Formed Support Group Known As PDP For Peter Obi – Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor
As the race for the presidency thickens in the Nigerian political landscape ahead of the 2023 general elections, a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ogbeide Ifaluyi-Isibor has come out to reveal how a support group was formed in support of Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Gregory Obi.
Speaking during an interview with Charles Aniagolu on ARISE TV’s ‘Prime Time’ a few hours ago, Isibor explained that after publicly revealing his support for Obi on live television, he received several calls from his fellow party members who were secretly supporting the candidacy of the former Anambra governor. According to the PDP chieftain, his party colleagues consulted him on how to float a support group known as ‘PDP for Peter Obi’ that would assist the Labour Party ahead of the presidential elections.
He said; “When I left the show here that day, I had a lot of friends in the PDP reach out to me and say, you were bold enough to express our collective views on Tv, and we appreciate that. And there are several of us from different units and different wards across the country, let us come together under an umbrella and form a microstructure for our preferred candidate.
Now, we have played major roles in the PDP in different elections, we understand the dynamics of elections on Election Day and we understand how the game is played. Let us align forces together, let us pull in one direction for the sake of Peter Obi. What we are going to be doing is that we are going to be monitoring our various polling units on that day on behalf of the Labour Party, and we are also going to be supporting them with logistics.”
