Bandits Storm Abuja Estate, Abduct Two

kidnappers struck the Nigerian Army Post Housing Scheme in the Kurudu area of Abuja on Thursday night and abducted two residents.

The victims were identified as the wife and an in-law of Cyril Adikwu, a lawyer. The incident happened around 10:00 pm in the Phase 2 area of the estate.

Austine John, a neighbor of the victims, recounted the harrowing experience. The kidnappers, armed and dangerous, entered the estate, firing shots indiscriminately. Despite the chaotic situation, Adikwu managed to escape, but his wife and in-law were abducted.

This incident follows closely on the heels of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike’s declaration that the Federal government would not tolerate any form of bandit attack in Abuja.

Describing the ordeal, Austine John expressed the fear that permeated the community throughout the night. He highlighted the swift response of the estate’s management and the subsequent arrival of army personnel, he said, “This is really traumatising because we could not sleep throughout the night due to fear of the kidnappers coming back.”

The Federal Capital Territory Police Command had not issued an official comment on the situation as of the time of the report.
