Breaking: Governor Sheriff Oborevwori Dumps PDP For APC

In a major political development, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).

According to Naturenex, the decision was finalized during a private, high-level gathering at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday evening. The meeting, which drew the attendance of prominent APC stalwarts, marks a notable shift in the South-South political landscape.

Speaking with Arise TV reporters via telephone, the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, confirmed the move, explaining that it resulted from “wide consultations with political stakeholders and in the interest of Delta’s long-term development.”

Oborevwori, who won the Delta governorship election in 2023 under the PDP banner, had previously secured victory over his rivals to assume office. Political observers are already viewing this defection as a calculated move, potentially setting the stage for his involvement in the 2027 general elections.

This announcement comes shortly after a viral video surfaced online fueling rumors about the governor’s political direction. The footage showed Oborevwori in the company of APC members, sparking conversations about his possible defection. At the time, one of his media aides had described the clip as “old and misleading.”
