Nigerian Afrobeats sensation, Davido, has opened up about how his connection with American R&B star, Chris Brown, marked a major turning point in his career.
The award-winning artist, best known for his hit track ‘Blow My Mind,’ recounted the experience during a recent appearance on the Bagfuel Brigade podcast. According to Davido, the relationship with Chris Brown began in 2018 and has since had a lasting impact on his musical journey.
Sharing the story of how they first connected, Davido said, “Meeting Chris Brown changed my life. I met him in 2018. He had a Nigerian friend, one of his best friends.”
He went on to explain how an unexpected Facetime call created the link between them. “The friend called me one day on Facetime and my song was playing at the background, I asked where he was and he said he was at Chris Brown’s house. I was like, ‘What? Y’all playing my music?’ And he showed me Chris dancing to my song.”
The artist added that the first conversation he had with the American singer came during that call. “He gave Chris Brown the phone, that was the first time we had conversation. A few months later, I went to America and linked up with Chris. From the first time we met, we just naturally became friends.”
