BREAKING: Rivers Assembly Denies Governor Fubara Access to Present 2025 Budget [VIDEO]

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, was prevented from presenting the 2025 budget to the State House of Assembly on Wednesday.

The budget presentation was scheduled before the Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, following a recent Supreme Court decision that halted federal allocations to the state until a duly approved budget is submitted.

Upon arriving at the Assembly complex, Governor Fubara was denied entry, barring him from presenting the budget as planned.

Addressing journalists outside the complex, the governor stated that his intent was to act in the best interest of Rivers State. He emphasized that he had previously communicated with the Speaker both in writing and over the phone before deciding to appear in person.

The Assembly has been divided, with lawmakers loyal to former Governor Nyesom Wike holding their sessions at the Legislative Quarters in Port Harcourt since December 13, 2023, following the demolition of the official Assembly complex by the state government.
