NBS Fact-Cheked Obi’s Statement During NTA Town Hall Meeting And It Was Correct

African Check Nigeria, One of the Fact-checking coalition partners of the Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, presidential Town Hall Meeting, an event also known as ” The candidate” has Fact-checked the labor party presidential aspirant, Peter Gregory Obi after he attended the event

The event has been receiving some presidential candidates before Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba Ahmed had their time on the program on Monday

While speaking on the poverty rate as a result of the economic breakdown in the country, the former governor of Anambra state, statistically gave a figure which was subsequently Fact-checked.

Obi, while speaking, said that over 130 million people in Nigeria live in abject poverty

However, when African Check Nigeria Fact-checked his statement, it turned out to be true

According to the result derived from The Nigeria Bureau of Statistics, NBS, 63% making about 133 million Nigerians live in poverty
