President Bola Tinubu has called on the Nigerian military to intensify its operations to bring an end to the scourge of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency troubling the country.
According to Naturenex, the President made this call while addressing troops of the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army during his official visit to Katsina State.
Describing the current wave of insecurity as a crucial moment in Nigeria’s history, Tinubu urged the armed forces to remain steadfast in safeguarding the nation’s sovereignty and working to restore peace across all regions.
The President’s visit to Katsina, which began on Friday, included the inauguration of a 24-kilometre dual carriageway and the Katsina Agricultural Mechanised Centre.
Speaking to the soldiers, Tinubu declared, “My dear soldiers, this is a defining moment in our history. The threats of terrorism, banditry, and insurgency have persisted for too long. Nigerians are counting on us and you to end this menace and reclaim every inch of our territory.”
He further rallied the troops, asking them to reaffirm their commitment to the mission ahead. “Let me hear you loudly: Are you ready? Are you committed to ending this insecurity once and for all? Let your resolve echo through every valley and forest. Let the enemies of Nigeria know—their time is up.”
The President underscored that the struggle is much more than a battle for land, describing it as a fight for the nation’s soul. “The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across the country is not just a battle for territory; it is a battle for the soul of Nigeria. Your resilience in the face of danger inspires the entire nation.”
He went on to salute their sacrifices and dedication, stressing that victory would require not just military might, but also unwavering courage and determination. “Your sacrifices do not go unnoticed. This war will not be won by weapons alone but by your will to stand, resist, fight, and triumph,” Tinubu said.
Reassuring the troops of his administration’s continued support, he pledged, “As your President, I will match your courage with action, investment, and unwavering support.”
Issuing a strong warning to those behind the acts of violence, both within and outside the country, Tinubu stated, “To those who seek to destabilise our nation, be they domestic collaborators or foreign agents—hear this: Nigeria will not bow. Not to fear. Not to terror. Not to treachery.”
He further promised to prioritise the welfare of the armed forces and their families, assuring them of improved welfare packages. “Your welfare is my top priority. We are committed to ensuring your families are safe, your allowances are paid promptly, your healthcare is guaranteed, and your dignity is upheld,” he affirmed.
The President revealed that several initiatives, including housing schemes, enhanced insurance cover, and better remuneration, were already being implemented to support the armed forces.
Expressing his admiration for their bravery, Tinubu said, “I stand before you today as your President, Commander-in-Chief, and fellow patriot, deeply humbled by your courage, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to our great nation’s peace, security, and sovereignty.”
“You are the shields of Nigeria, the brave sons and daughters who stand between our people and the forces of terror.”
He concluded by praising the troops’ ongoing efforts, noting, “Every inch of ground you hold, every terrorist you neutralise, and every community you secure is a victory for justice, freedom, and the future of our children. The fight you are waging here in Katsina and across the country is not just a battle for territory but for the soul of Nigeria. Your resilience in the face of danger inspires the entire nation,” President Tinubu said.
