Police Bust Baby Factory in Lagos, Rescue Ten Victims

The Lagos State Police Command has dismantled an illegal baby factory operating in the Ijegun area, leading to the rescue of ten individuals, including three children.

The operation was confirmed by the command’s spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, who said the discovery followed a tip-off received on Saturday. Acting swiftly, officers stormed the location and arrested 35-year-old Mariam Vincent, along with two accomplices—23-year-old Orie Ruth and 18-year-old Ujunwa Ifeanyi.

During the raid, law enforcement rescued a total of ten people—seven adult women and three minors. The adult victims were identified as Precious (24), Magdalene (25), Adaobi (23), Princess (22), Ifeanyi (25), and Amaka (26). The rescued children are Destiny (7), Miracle (5), and Success (2).

Hundeyin explained that the suspects confessed to abducting the victims from different parts of Lagos to run the illegal operation. All those rescued are now receiving medical care and rehabilitation.

He also confirmed that the suspects remain in custody while investigations continue, with plans underway to arraign them in court.

Providing broader updates on police operations, Hundeyin revealed that within the last two weeks, the force had apprehended 39 suspects for crimes including murder, armed robbery, rape, abduction, illegal possession of firearms, and drug-related offenses.

In a related case, police successfully rescued two kidnap victims from the Igbe Alagemo area of Ikorodu. The incident occurred on the night of March 26, 2025, when armed men invaded the area, kidnapped a 40-year-old man named Dare, and later seized another victim, Rodiat, aged 25, from a neighboring house. The attackers reportedly killed a guard dog during the raid.

Hundeyin noted that a coordinated effort by security teams led to the victims’ rescue around 11:56 p.m. on March 29. The victims have since been reunited with their families, and the area has returned to a state of calm.

He added that surveillance remains active and efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the suspects behind the abduction.
