Published by admin on

Former Central Bank of Nigeria governor, Godwin Emefiele, has taken legal action against Senate President Godswill Akpabio, demanding compensation amounting to N25 billion along with a public apology following accusations perceived as slanderous towards his leadership during his term at the helm of the nation’s central bank.

Emefiele’s lawsuit arises from statements issued by Sen. Akpabio implicating the former CBN chief has issues ranging from possessing illicit weapons to contributing to inflationary woes via currency manipulation—charges said to contribute to present economic challenges facing ordinary citizens.

Meanwhile, President Bola Tinubu’s government had vowed to address damage caused by previous administrations, aiming to stabilize the economy and secure food supplies amid ongoing struggles affecting everyday life.

The legal documents filed indicate failure to meet Emefiele’s conditions within specified timelines could trigger additional litigation aimed at securing justice.
