CRISIS: APC REMOVES Governor Uzodimma, Names Replacement | Tinubu Makes Major Appointment

Breaking News: APC Replaces Uzodinma with Otu as Chairperson for Edo Gubernatorial Primary

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has made significant changes within their leadership structure ahead of the upcoming Edo State governorship primary scheduled for later this week.

In light of recent controversies surrounding the previous process led by Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, who oversaw the initial round of elections marred by disputes among candidates, the APC National Working Committee took decisive action.

Immediate updates reveal that Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State has been named as the chairperson of the revamped Edo State Governorship Primary Election Committee.

Additionally, Alhaji Rabiu Suleiman assumes the secretary post under his guidance.

Furthermore, Barrister C. C. Udenwa takes up the responsibility as the head of the appeals committee tasked with addressing any potential issues arising during or following the freshly organized electoral proceedings.

These developments come amidst growing concerns about fairness and transparency in the selection process for the next candidate representing the ruling political party in Edo State.

By replacing key figures involved in prior events, the APC aims at ensuring credibility and smooth execution of future activities related to selecting their nominee for the forthcoming general election.

Second Breaking Story: New Leadership Announced for Nigeria Immigration Services

Meanwhile, newly inaugurated president Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the promotion of Deputy Comptroller General Kemi Nanna Nandap to become the country’s newest Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS).

This changeover comes into effect starting March 1, 2024, when she replaces current incumbent Mrs. Caroline Wura-Ola Adepoju upon completion of her term on February 29th.

Before ascending to lead the immigration agency, Ms. Nandap held responsibilities managing the Migration Directorate of the same organization.

According to presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale, Mr. Tinubu expects these personnel shifts to bolster existing efforts aimed towards enhancing services rendered by the institution alongside reinforcing national safety measures via improved border control mechanisms.

These announcements were shared publicly today, signaling both internal restructuring initiatives taking place across various sectors since the start of the administration earlier this month.
