Democracy Day: Mega Protest Breaks Out In Lagos (PHOTOS)

Protesters chanting songs have stormed the Ikeja Underbridge in Lagos to commemorate the 2024 Democracy Day.

A significant security presence was noted at the scene, with police officers and officials from the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps on hand.

The demonstrators, in substantial numbers, chanted solidarity songs and displayed placards and banners with various messages. Some of the signs read: “President Tinubu, let the poor breathe,” “For another general strike with mass protest now,” and “Payment of living wage to all Nigerian workers now.”

The protest is being led by several civil society groups, including the Take It Back Movement, the Education Rights Campaign, the Coalition for Revolution, and the Socialist Workers League.

Lagos State Government or any other agency of the government has not reacted to the development. Meanwhile, the whole process has been relatively peaceful despite the presence of security operatives.
